CLC Comments on Proposed Final Rules for Internet Communication Disclaimers

Date

Campaign Legal Center filed a public comment with the Federal Election Commission regarding proposed drafts of a final regulation in REG 2011-02, a rulemaking to revise and update the FEC’s regulations requiring disclaimers for public communications disseminated through digital and internet-based devices and services. CLC’s comment raised concerns with an alternative draft of the proposed final rule (“Draft B”) and cautioned the FEC to avoid hastily approving Draft B – which was published just three days before the open meeting where the FEC is scheduled to discuss and vote on the rule – without providing sufficient time for the public to consider and comment on it.
