CLC Comments on DSCC Request to Use Legal Proceedings Account to Make Campaign Expenditures

On October 3, 2022, Campaign Legal Center (CLC) filed a public comment with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) regarding the DSCC’s advisory opinion request (AOR 2022-21) on the legality of making campaign expenditures with restricted funds in a special purpose account for recounts and other legal proceedings. CLC urged the FEC to dismiss the DSCC submission as an invalid advisory opinion request or, alternatively, to reaffirm that national party committees cannot make campaign expenditures from these special purpose accounts.
