CLC Asks FEC To Improve Report Filing Process and Public-Facing Website

Date

On November 13, 2023, Campaign Legal Center (CLC) submitted a comment urging the Federal Election Commission (FEC) to improve the process for filing public disclosure reports and the public-facing website for members of the public to review those reports. CLC’s recommendations would improve the transparency of federal campaign finance while streamlining the process for filers. CLC asked the Commission to make the outcomes of the enforcement process clearer to the public, improve public access to in-depth campaign finance data, improve transparency for lobbyist bundled contributions and contributions made to further independent expenditures, to summarize the changes made in amendments to disclosure reports, create a simpler system for itemizing earmarks and in-kind contributions, and more.
