CLC Alleges Ron DeSantis Illegally Coordinated With Super PAC “Never Back Down”

On December 18, 2023, Campaign Legal Center (CLC) filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission alleging that 2024 presidential candidate Ron DeSantis illegally coordinated with Never Back Down ("Never PAC”), a federal independent-expenditure-only committee or “super PAC,” thereby violating federal campaign finance laws that prohibit coordination between candidates and super PACs. In addition, CLC’s complaint alleges that Never PAC has for months coordinated its activity with and made illegal in-kind contributions to DeSantis’s campaign, and is violating federal law by raising funds beyond federal contribution limits and source prohibitions while engaged in such coordinated election spending. Moreover, this ongoing coordination scheme has deprived the public of complete and accurate information regarding the sources of the DeSantis campaign’s funding.
