CLC Alleges Foreign Corporation Made Illegal Contributions to DeSantis Committees

On June 26, 2023, Campaign Legal Center (CLC) filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) alleging that a Canadian company, ECN Capital Corporation, made over $100,000 in illegal foreign national contributions to state political committees in Florida, including the 2018 and 2022 gubernatorial campaigns of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and DeSantis’s state PAC, Friends of Ron DeSantis. CLC’s complaint further alleges that ECN Capital’s domestic subsidiaries also violated the law by contributing an additional $122,000 with the participation of ECN Capital’s foreign national officers.
