Campaign Legal Center Complaint Alleging Former Tennessee State Legislator Violated “Soft Money” Prohibition

Date

On November 15, 2022, Campaign Legal Center (CLC) filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) alleging that Beth Harwell, a former Tennessee state legislator who ran for Congress in 2022, violated the “soft money” provisions of federal campaign finance law when Harwell’s state campaign committee and state PAC contributed a combined $47,000 to a federal super PAC that exclusively supported Harwell’s federal candidacy.
