Brief of Amici CLC and Partners in Support of Plaintiffs-Appellants in Clarke v. Town of Newburgh
After a New York trial court purported to strike down the New York Voting Rights Act (NYVRA), Campaign Legal Center, the ACLU of Northern California, and the ACLU of Southern California sought leave to file an amicus brief to the Appellate Division of the New York Supreme Court. The brief gives national context to the NYVRA and the trial court's order, explaining how every appellate court to consider similar provisions in other state VRAs has upheld them against constitutional challenge.
