‘Scam PAC’ Treasurer Sentenced to Federal Prison

A federal judge today sentenced political operative Scott B. Mackenzie to 12 months and one day in prison for making false statements to the Federal Election Commission. “Scam PACs have proliferated in recent years, and it is about time there is accountability for operatives who rip off well-intentioned small dollar donors who are trying to engage in the political process,” said Brendan Fischer, director of federal reform for the nonpartisan Campaign Legal Center.
