CLC Supplemental Comments on AZ Advisory Opinion Request — Campaign Media Spending Under Prop. 211

Date

Campaign Legal Center submitted supplemental written comments to the Arizona Citizens’ Clean Elections Commission in response to a request for an advisory opinion submitted by Opportunity Arizona (AOR 24-01) and the draft Advisory Opinion responding to that request (Draft AO 24-03). Opportunity Arizona’s request sought additional guidance regarding whether certain kinds of communications would constitute campaign media spending under the Voters’ Right to Know Act, also known as Prop. 211. The Commission sought additional comments from the public regarding the first question posed by Opportunity Arizona. CLC’s comments address this issue, concerning the interpretation of when an ad “promotes, supports, attacks, or opposes a candidate” within six months of an election.
