CLC Revises Request Asking FEC to Clarify Enforcement Rights After Trump’s Executive Order

Date

On March 25, 2025, Campaign Legal Center (CLC) filed a revised advisory opinion request asking the Federal Election Commission (FEC) to clarify CLC’s right to file a civil enforcement complaint under the Federal Election Campaign Act, in light of President Donald Trump’s February 18, 2025, Executive Order “Ensuring Accountability for All Agencies,” which purports to prohibit all federal agencies and officials from advancing an interpretation of law that is contrary to a position taken by the president or the attorney general. The FEC denied CLC’s initial request for such an opinion, which CLC had filed on March 10, 2025.
