"I have as much concern with what those foreign countries will assume they should do to gain favor," McGehee says. "It's the way business is done in much of the world."
In a letter sent to Trump last week, Amey's, McGehee's and Bookbinder's organizations as well as more than a dozen other signatories urged the president elect to take steps to comply with the high ethical standard set by his predecessors.
"I don't think it's very likely the Department of Justice or the Republican Congress would begin impeachment," the Campaign Legal Center's McGehee says. "What you have is a long, painful slog of allegations and counter-allegations."
