Trump Owns the GOP But Now Wants to Turn it Into his Personal Piggy Bank

“There were important sets of statements and letters that Trump made within the last week. One was the demand that the RNC and other political committees stop using his name to raise money, but then the other was a statement—from Trump—put out on the letterhead of his Save America leadership PAC, telling donors to effectively only donate to Trump,” said Brendan Fischer, director of federal reform at Campaign Legal Center. “Taken together, I think that these two moves are not only an indication that Trump intends to remain a major political player, but also that he wants to be at the center of the Republican political universe, even more so than the Republican party itself.”
