Trahan legal bills mounting during ethics review

According to recent Federal Election Commission filings in 2019 Trahan racked up nearly $380,000 in legal expenses, incurred in response to federal investigations that came out of campaign finance complaints against the first-term representative. The House Committee on Ethics announced in December it would further pursue its investigation into Trahan, who investigators said appears to have violated campaign finance laws during her narrow 2018 election victory. The Campaign Legal Center, another nonprofit watchdog group based in Washington, D.C., also filed a complaint about Trahan’s campaign finances to the FEC in March.
