Talk Media News: Supreme Court urged to vacate gerrymandered districts in North Carolina

In a friend-of-the-court brief filed with the U.S. Supreme Court, the Campaign Legal Center, a political reform advocacy group, urged the redrawing of two North Carolina congressional districts because they were designed to produce a racially guaranteed result; namely, the election of two black Democrats to the U.S. Congress. Gerry Hebert, the Center’s director of voting rights and redistricting, said the case “is a clear cut example of legislators using race as a proxy to achieve political gains.”
