Sen. Kelsey indicted for allegedly violating federal campaign finance laws
The Campaign Legal Center and Democracy 21 filed a complaint in June 2017 with the Federal Election Commission and requested the Department of Justice investigate whether Kelsey’s congressional campaign committee knowingly and willfully violated federal campaign finance laws. Brendan Quinn, spokesman for the Campaign Legal Center, said, it’s “good news” when the Department of Justice takes a hard look at potential violations. “This was a serious violation where Kelsey concocted a scheme to illegally transfer state money into his federal race and we’re pleased that the Department of Justice has taken that violation seriously,” Quinn said.
