Some campaign finance experts still balked at the setup. “The personal use ban wouldn’t apply, but it does present some similar concerns,” said Brendan Fischer, director of federal reform at the Washington-based Campaign Legal Center. “The effect of this is that NRCC campaign funds are indirectly” flowing to Crenshaw personally. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, the House Democrats’ campaign committee, mocked the NRCC for buying Crenshaw’s book.
