Even defunct, de Blasio campaign draws financial ethics concerns

“If campaign staffers were getting paid by Fairness PAC to indirectly support de Blasio’s presidential run, there could be potential legal violations,” Brendan Fischer of the watchdog group Campaign Legal Center said in an interview. The de Blasio camp has said that everything was done lawfully. Checks to the political directors were for advice on how the PAC might forge relationships with candidates or further progressive causes in the future.
