‘Election Defense Fund’ donations support Tommy Tuberville’s campaign

Brendan Fischer, director of the federal reform program for the Campaign Legal Center, said Tuberville’s fundraising email is not unusual. The Campaign Legal Center describes itself as a nonpartisan organization that supports transparency in campaign fundraising, as well as voting rights and other issues. “It’s not entirely uncommon for candidates for both political parties to use inflammatory fundraising appeals,” Fischer said. “And this probably falls into that category. Candidates are allowed to stoke their partisan base in order to raise money.”
