Paul Klingenstein founded Aberdare Ventures in 1999 with an emphasis on technologies that drive transformational efficiencies in health care. Earlier he managed healthcare investing at Accel Partners and worked at Warburg Pincus. He has been active in and served on boards of numerous healthcare technology companies. Prior to forming Aberdare, Klingenstein advised the Rockefeller Foundation, where he assisted launching a public-private partnership to discover and test HIV vaccines. He serves on the board of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and on the board of The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He is a former Board Chair of the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative and of Juma Ventures, and a former Trustee of the Taft School and of the Marin Country Day School. He is a rancher, fisherman and backcountry pilot. He received his AB from Harvard and his MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
