Paul Smith, an attorney with the Campaign Legal Center who will be arguing the plaintiff's case in front of the U.S. Supreme Court, said the court's decision to let the state hold off on new maps is not indicative of how the justices will rule overall.
“We don’t see the grant of a stay as a preview of the merits," he said. "They're two very different issues."
