Advocacy group urges reforms to felon voting restoration process

“Iowa is first for the primary caucus, right, but currently last in voting rights restoration," said Ashley Caldwell, organizer with Restore Your Vote, during a news conference at the Iowa Statehouse Monday. Restore Your Vote is project of the Campaign Legal Center aimed at helping Iowans with felony convictions get their voting rights reinstated. As the Iowa Caucus nears, advocates are using the first-in-the-nation presidential nominating event as a backdrop to highlight how Iowa's felon voting ban is keeping 52,000 people from participating.
