CLC sued the FEC for failing to enforce federal transparency laws, enabling Big Tent Project, an entity funded by secret money, to avoid reporting its contributions, expenditures and debts. The FEC has failed to protect the public’s right to know who is seeking to influence elections.
Yakima County uses a voting system that consistently prevents its Latino residents from electing their preferred candidates to the county commission. CLC notified the county commission that this system violates the Washington Voting Rights Act and called on the commission to an alternative election system instead.
In 2013, the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office issued an administrative policy directive that cancels voter registration applications if they do not match exactly with existing records in the Georgia Department of Driver Services or the Social Security Administration (SSA) databases unless the voter takes burdensome steps to resolve the problem prior to Election Day.
